5Angel Alto Recorder  Jun 08, 2010 By C. Weiss "Music mom"
This instrument arrived promptly and the case was much nicer than I expected. With most alto recorders you have to the cram the instrument into the case. This case is compartmentalized and spacious. The enclosed fingering chart was vey helpful.

2I should have known better  Feb 01, 2012 By Cheston Heskett "Woad Warrior"
First, let me say this about the recorder itself. It is NOT just a child's toy or an object for teaching music theory to grade-schoolers. The recorder was once a common "parlor instrument" played by fine people to entertain guests and was even used in baroque era orchestras. It is sad to see how little serious attention this instrument receives today. This product is a fine example of that decline. The phrase "you get what you pay for" comes to mind, but I make many varieties of fipple flutes myself and fail to see how any company could muck up a relatively simple instrument with all the technology available today, but they have. Many other alto recorders were available and I foolishly assumed one would be as good as another so I may as well save some money. I was wrong.
The biggest issue is that it gets "spitted up" VERY quickly, and I know it isn't just me because none of my other fipple flutes have this problem. The joints fit poorly, and, it will not play a full scale in the higher registers, leaving me limited only to the lowest with about the lower 1/4 of the second and the upper 1/4 of the third. Even if I limit playing to this instrument's abilities the poorly manufactured duct causes moisture to collect rapidly causing that horrible "screech" parents loath so much when their children are learning to play. I have not made that sound on any instrument in many, many years. I bought this only to replace one I lost in a move because I have guests coming this weekend and wished to play for them. rather than bother trying to get a refund or replacement, wasting more time and money, I will just try and repair it myself (defeating the purpose of buying as I may as well have just made one myself at this rate but bought in order to save time) and, if I can't, will just turn it into a wall hanger along with the other broken down second hand instruments I have picked up over the years.

4great alto recorder but weird set up  Mar 02, 2011 By drfrancov "drfrancov"
i am comparing this one to my yamaha 302b alto recorder. It looks great and sounds pretty good. it is in tune. Packaging is complete and comes in with some recorder cream. Only weird thing is the set up, if you look inside the mouth piece, you will see a tube inside and the body of the recorder goes into it. I have heard some weird noises when i play (like something fluttering inside the mouth piece) that I feel come from this set up. I am unable to find any other reference on the angel recorders website. Other than that, just a little sharper in sound compared to my Yamaha 302b.

5Angel 101A Alto  Jul 03, 2011 By s.jackson
A quality product that sounds great. I also appreciate the zippered case that has lots of room.
I also have some soprano Angel recorders I purchased at Amazon and this recorder is similiar
to the others with the case that actually has a little extra room (the case is too small on
some other brands). They also included a fingering chart. I tried some other brands but now
I only buy Angel recorders.
