What it does Jul 09, 2008

This product's purpose is to prevent feedback when used with an amplifier - it prevents the sound form the speakers from entering the guitar body, therefore reducing feedback. It is NOT intended to make the guitar "softer". When used for the intended purpose, it works well.

An expensive but ok experience Dec 29, 2010
By henweis I am the proud new owner of a Martin OM-42 guitar, and I discovered after a short while, that all the sound hole covers to purchase in Denmark was to big for the sound hole in the guitar. So I tried to buy one and cut slices of the rubber - didn't work. So I tried to "consult" the internet and found after a while this product : Players Products SQS1 Sound Hole Cover. I ordered it and discovered that the price suddenly more than doubled because of the freight costs etc to Denmark. Anyway the parcel eventually came, and I was happy to see that I actually was able to use the cover on my guitar with just a small adjustment cut. I was dissapointed with the quality of the material - cheap and quite hard plastic, and especially the 4 "legs" to fit inside the sound hole has small plastic leftover pieces from the casting, that eventually will make scratches on the guitar. But again - it's fixable. On the other hand I was glad to find out, that I could use the adjustable lid to get to the small volume-wheel from the L.R.Baggs pickup inside the soundhole. So all in all I'm satisfied.

What's the point? Dec 04, 2006
By B. Welter "Silencer" is hardly an appropriate name for this product. This so called silencer reduces the sound of the guitar by a mere 10% at best.
I play a Takamine 2004 Takamine G-Series - the silencer fit the sound hole without any modification, but did not significantly reduce the volume of the guitar. Out of principle, I'm seeking a refund for this product.
