5Good whistle  Mar 28, 2009 By Lady G
I play flute and piccolo so, I am no stranger to the sound of a woodwind instrument. This whistle has a lovely sound. Out of the two whistles I own, I much prefer this one. I plan on purchasing the Clarke whistle in the key of D.I also highly recommend the Clarke Tin Whistle handbook by Bill Ochs. It is great for beginners or musicians that are adding another instrument to their hobby list.

5very nice sound  Sep 08, 2010 By Arwyr "Arwyr"
i was very pleased with this whistle. the sound is quite different from other whistles which use a plastic mouthpiece. this sounds much more pleasant.

4Decent  Feb 17, 2010 By Daniel Dunn
The mouthpiece didn't seem to be constructed very well and looked like it was made out of cheap composite wood. Other than that the whistle sounds great. As a beginner just learning how to play, I have been very satisfied with it.

5Still learning, but having fun  Feb 28, 2011 By Marvin A. Dolinger "marvharps"
I am just learning to play this instrument, but having fun. I bought pennywhistles in keys of both C and D. It turns out that all the beginner music seems to be written for the D instrument, so I am not sure you need the C instrument at all. It might be good once you get more advanced. It is easy to get a clean note out of and fun to mess around with. I got it because I want something easy to play when I travel and it seems a little delicate, as in it might get bent in a back pack, so I will need to find some way to protect it. It is good playable instrument that is very inexpensive.

2Great sound, not tuned properly.  May 06, 2011 By MaryB
I might have just gotten unlucky and gotten a defective one, or maybe there's something I just don't know about pennywhistles. I got mine today, pulled it out and was happy with the way it sounded but then when I tried to play with some friends, I quickly realized that I was a good half step sharp. Pulling out a tuner that I had confirmed my suspicion. Each note was sharp from 1/4 to 3/4 step. I guess you get what you pay for.
