Each distortion stompbox features a huge range of different distortion types that can be morphed into different combinations as you rotate our exclusive Distortion Morph knob. Now, you are no longer stuck with only one distortion type in a pedal. But that's not all. There are two outputs, one for normal signal out, and one that features advanced cabinet modeling for live and recording direct-to-board applications. We've even incorporated our innovative spectral-contouring EQ, which delivers a far greater tone range than other distortion stompboxes.

3one interesting pedal  Aug 26, 2004 By M. Swinburne "ESP guitars, the only guitars for me!"
I've been using the hot rod for the last few months for guitar lines needing less distortion than what i have my amp (or danelectro fab tone) set to. The product's description that the contour knob will give different tones is true, but to me they all sound like theyre being played through various sorts of tin cans, pipes, etc. I personally quite like these sounds but I am not sure how many others will. Like the other digitech pedals I own, this thing is very well built and easy to use.

5dont listen to the review who gave it a 3  Jan 28, 2012 By Andrea Floyd
this is probably digitechs second best regular distortion pedal. the first being the hard wire series. This pedal has options and alot of them. the morph knob crafts your sound. and can go from old school misfits overdrive to heavy distortion like 3 days grace to fuzz distortion which is really bassy/blusey distortion. this is now way disgned for metal. it has nice thick sound but not so much crunch. I recommend this pedal if you want some rock/alternitive sound or old school goth over drive. these are starting to be discontinued so grab one fast
