Elixir Strings are covered with an ultra-thin, space-age polymer tube that contacts the string on the tops of the windings only. This leaves the all-important winding-to-winding-to-core space free from the fear of the enemies of tone! Most players report that Elixir Strings keep sounding great three to five times longer than ordinary strings. Gauges: 010, 023, 016, 012, 010 | | | |

I can't write negative about Elixir Mar 07, 2009
By J. Burba I can't say much more than my title. Elixir is my string of choice for guitar and banjo, Martin and Deering.

Best strings yet Apr 02, 2011
By Teresa K. Browning I just put my first set of Elixir strings on my Gibson Earl Scruggs Standard banjo. I have no ulterior motive for rating these strings very favorably, so this is my honest assessment. They are the best strings I have ever used in my 30 years as a banjo player. I don't know about longevity, but the sound improved at least 20 percent in my estimation. Yes, they are pricey, but I'm told by a guitar playing friend that they last a lot longer. Even if they don't, the improved sound is worth the additional cost.

Although I have not installed the strings yet, they were exactly as advertised. I have used them from other sources.
Does what it says Nov 05, 2011
By Jeffrey McCallon Although I don't think it lasts as long as they say it does, these strings are great. My only complaint is that they left a residue on my fingers when I first put them on.
