4Great end result, rough process  Nov 05, 2010 By JimK
I purchased these pickups to see if I could upgrade my old Squire Strat rather than dropping money on a new higher end guitar. In the end, I achieved a fantastic result. It just took a while to get it right.
The first set I received had a bad middle pickup. Unfortunately, I did not discover this until I had completely reassembled my guitar and tried to play it. I should have checked them before installation, but it didn't occur to me they might be bad. To their credit, Amazon quickly sent me another set and these pickups checked out fine at 10k ohms. But I had to de-solder the first set to send it back which was twice as much work as the original installation.
Also, as mentioned in other posts, the diagram provided with this pickup set is wrong. It doesn't show the correct location of the caps and resistor, and shows all 1 meg pots, whereas the volume pot is 500k. If you buy these, go to the Fender website and download the wiring diagram for the American Deluxe Stratocaster. Install per this diagram except put the 500 k pot in the volume position. It took a couple hours of research on the web to figure this out. My thanks goes out to the other guitarists who posted this information. I can't believe Fender lets these out with the wrong diagram.
In the end these pickups dropped right into my Squire pickguard, I had to enlarge the pot holes slightly for the new ones to fit. I also got a new vintage style 5 way switch which matches the wiring diagrams. The original Squire switch is a little different. The Squire volume and tone knobs seem a little tight on the new pots and I didn't want to force them on so I have ordered new cream colored knobs to match the pickups.
This guitar now sounds great, an immediate and noticeable improvement over the original muddy sounding pickups.

5This is the real Strat sound  Apr 28, 2009 By Mario A. Lopez "Mayo"
My old Squier Strat Korean edition had been dusty and ignored in a corner of my basement until I desided it to buy these pickups. The task was not easy because the instructions from Fender are very poor. You have to do some guess work mostly with the bridge pickup, the knobs, and the five-way switch. When you detach the old pickguard with the electronic, keep it as a reference. If you are upgrading your Squire chances are that you have to make more space for the new pickups in the body of your guitar carving some wood. But after a couple of trial and errors, the money and time spent was worth it. Wow! What a great fender classic sound! Do not hesitate and upgrade your guitar... NOW! As a final note, make sure that you have all the tools you need and you are going to need a new pickguard for sure.

5awesome  May 12, 2011 By Sean D. Richarz "movie guy"
Had my buddy at Dallolio Custom Guitars build me a Jeff Beck spec Strat, so of course these were the pick ups to put in. They are AWESOME, great sound, no noise, and such versatility. With a 5-way pick up I am amazed at the rich variety of sounds I can get out of my great guitar. Need to scream? Bridge pick up. Need to sound classic Strat? Middle. I play through and old Carvin tube amp with a Celestion vintage sound speaker and the combination is perfect. I play a lot of Pink Floyd and it is so easy to get all the Gilmourish sounds. Really cool, I would recommend them highly.

5Great product but instructions are incorrect.  Feb 25, 2012 By Paul D. Watson
If you buy these pickups, go directly to the Fender Support web page and download the electrical diagram for the "American Deluxe Stratocaster" (not the Super Deluxe). As others have said, the instructions that come with the pickups is incomplete and incorrect. This is the installation diagram to use. The kit comes with three controls pots, two capacitors and a resister. The diagram shows where they go. The pickup with the yellow wire is the bridge pickup. The two 1 meg pots are tone control. The 500k is volume. You will have to rewire your S-1 switch slightly as well, as the Deluxe differs from the MIM wiring.
That having been said, the pickups sound fantastic! My MIM Stratocaster now sounds like an American Deluxe Stratocaster for a lot less money. The tones are clear and sharp as a bell with zero noise. These are a huge difference from my MIM pups. These pickups also change pickup tone control to match the Deluxe, so print the pickup switch diagram so you can figure out the new setup. I recommend these pickups.

5It's AGED WHITE, NOT WHITE  Mar 13, 2011 By Chris
Don't let Amazon's description fool you. Right now the Vintage Noiseless come in two colors, aged white and black. I had a bright white pick guard and almost sent these back because it sorta clashes. I am glad I didn't. I just had the shop put on aged white vol./tune knobs and channel selector knob to match the pups. It is a two tone white now with the pick guard, but it is growing on me.

What didn't take any time to grow on me is the sound. Truly amazing. I questioned whether to bother getting these. I only play for myself, and only wanted them because I hate the buzz you get in the 1,3 and 5 position (non-dual pup positions). I have a 1999 hardtail Made in USA Fender strat standard in pristine condition. Well it was the wisest decision I have made as far as guitars are concerned. I love the sound. I used to be partial to my other guitar that had two high-end Seymour Duncan humbucker pickups, but this has shot past that love.

Still has the vintage Fender sound, but better. I can play in all 5 positions now and enjoy them as noiseless. I was expecting that, but not expecting how well my guitar sings now.

I talked a guitar snob the other day still paying his basic American standard setup. He said he would only upgrade to the real expensive boutiques, if he ever did upgrade. I got the "the 60hz hum is the vintage Fender experience" from him. Say what you want, but I just took my time with my Fender to the next level. Time to give her a name.
