Get Screwed Sep 19, 2009
By Joey Stanford Fantastic ear plugs. Best I've ever had. The center bit of plastic makes it easier to squish into your ear. Excellent noise reduction, much better than the normal disposable earplugs. These if you fly a lot and sit behind the engines, these or the Hearos NRR33 plugs are for you. Be warned though, the plastic stem prevents you from sleeping with your head sideways. These are super soft and because of that they last for about 50 hours of use before you need to think about replacing them (based on my usage and long flights. If you frequently put them in and out of your ear then you might only get a few trips out of them). I'd definitely recommend you get some to try.

Surprisingly balanced sound, great SPL reduction. Jul 25, 2011
By Jon For too many years I played very loud music and attended very loud concerts without taking precautions to protect my hearing. I'm paying the price now with constant ringing in my ears. It's bad, but not unbearable. I don't want it to get any worse, so now I ALWAYS wear earplugs when playing amplified music or going to concerts. For years I'd been using the EAR product with a NRR of 12. I thought they were pretty good though they were very uncomfortable for my ears. I recently purchased a pair of the similar Hearos and find them to be more comfortable but less effective. I needed a higher level of attenuation so I purchased the Skull Screws. I'm amazed at how good these are, especially at their price point. They cut down the volume A LOT. I find them to be more evenly balanced than the Hearos or Ears, both of which attenuated the higher frequencies far more than the low. With the Hearos and EARs, I always found the bass guitar to be overbearing. The Skull Screws do a better job on the bass along with the higher frequencies. It's still not a perfectly flat frequency response, but it's not bad at all. And another benefit is that the Skull Screws are really comfortable! I couldn't be happier, and I highly recommend these for very loud music. I'll probably keep the Hearos around for those situations where the volume is just a little too high to go unprotected, but the Skull Screws will be my main 'plugs for playing with my band.

The best for very loud music May 06, 2011
By Francis C. Hays

I am giving these four stars but bear in mind that I don't believe there are five star earplugs to be had for any price. These are simply the best for when things get really loud. I actually think these guys sound better than the Hearos marketed as being high fidelity for musicians--and they offer even greater noise reduction which is nice for the loudest situations. They let me hear everything going on stage w/o having my eardrums blown out by large amplifiers. That said, they do reduce sound quality somewhat as they cut highs a bit more than lows so they aren't perfect but good enough. I continually try new earplugs and continually find myself thankful to come back to these.

By far the best I've tried... Mar 30, 2010
By Anne L. Watson ...and I've tried a couple of dozen kinds of earplugs. It's true that it's more difficult to sleep on your side with these in your ears--I do it, but I have a very soft down pillow. With other pillows, it sometimes doesn't work.
The noise attenuation is about as good as it gets with the plug pushed firmly into your ear, but if you want less, you can just not push the plug in as far.
Reusable for quite a while, so they're not as expensive as they might seem at first. The case makes it handy to take them when I travel, which is one of the times I use earplugs most, what with other people's cell phones, babies, and drunken arguments.

Not like regular foam plugs! Feb 28, 2012
By Jeremy T. Mahon The guy that said these are just like normal plugs is nuts. I am an avid shooter and go to the pistol range weekly. I have tried at least five different kinds of foam ear plugs and these by FAR are better than them. Just look at the noise reduction ratings on amazon. These are a 30 and the foam ones are much much lower. I cannot hear anyone talking even with their mouth by my ear, AND they protect my hearing from my .357!
