Hercules hanging stands with Automatic Grip System (AGS) are a fantastic solution for many instruments. Since the stability is at the headstock, a hanging stand can accommodate a wide variety of instruments that would not be sturdy in a cradle stand. This particular model is outfitted with the Auto Grab System, a quick release hand clutch and adjustable Yoke. Works great with virtually any guitar - even pointy guitars like B.C. Rich!

2Toy  Apr 20, 2011 By Christopher Wild "Citizen of The Earth"
This is not a stand for the gigging musician. I have burned through at least three of these in the past few years. The clamp is flimsy and although it is conceptually good (it grabs your headstock when you place the guitar on it) it cannot stand up to the rigors of constant loading and unloading, set ups and tear downs under varying circumstances, and being jostled around in car trunks and equipment trucks. It's great if it never leaves your bedroom or rehearsal space, but I'd pass on it for real gigging. It's pretty much a toy.

5Great stand, well worth the extra $  Jul 22, 2008 By Aaron P. Harmon
While this stand is more expensive than some of it's competitors, it is easy to see why once you get it. The construction is very solid and creates a very stable platform for your treasured axe. It is adequately padded and the grabbing mechanism is very secure and completely unobtrusive. Another nice feature is that this stand is more vertical than many of the other stands I have used, meaning that you don't have to provide a lot of clearance between the stand and the wall. I liked this product so much that started buying other products by this company (namely the wall hangers and music stand).

As a side note, I have used this stand with 2 solid body electric strat style guitars and an ovation acoustic. It has been a great for those. I cannot comment on how it will do with an odd shape like a Dean Razorback, an ML or flying V. Then again, most other stands aren't all that hot for those either.

5Solid instrument stand  Dec 28, 2010 By Dean Athans
The Hercules GS415B is very stable, sturdy, and height adjustable. I have used it with a Telecaster, archtops, and an Ovation, with the same fine results. The sliding yoke's arms provide additional security against the instrument slipping out and falling. The difference between this model and the GS414B is in the folding neck. The folding neck allows more comfortable stowing in a bag, like the GSB001 nylon bag from Hercules which is made to fit these stands. Prices for the bag vary widely--I paid $11.95 with free shipping.

With all guitar stands I would recommend, if possible, disconnecting the instrument cable during set breaks. I have seen accidents occur when someone steps on the instrument cable and pulls an instrument off its stand. Although it seems less likely with this kind of stand, it is still possible that such a scenario could yield a repair situation that nobody wants.

5trustworthy stand for guitars and basses  Mar 08, 2010 By R. L. Tober
I just bought a new bass and wanted a stand for stage. I wanted a sturdy stand that wouldn't allow it to fall. This stand is by far, the best I've seen (I've been playing for over forty years). It also collapses to a small bundle and stores in an optional Hercules bag with carrying strap.

5Perfect Gigging Guitar/Bass Stand  Apr 26, 2011 By D. Lowe "(Exaltbass)"
I love this stand! It supports my basses securely, has the 'fingers' that automatically add more peace of mind. I also love the grip style release to adjust the height of the column. The folding head makes it very compact for transporting to gigs. In addition I have the Ultimate GS-100 stand of similar style, but the the GS415B seems more robust. I also have the Hercules GS414B (non-folding head) that I use at home.
