Out of stock | | | | | | The LP Afuche/Cabasa, Martin Cohen's second patented invention, was developed nearly thirty years ago. It has since become the most popular hand percussion instrument ever created! Constructed using endless loops of steel bead chain wrapped around a specially textured, stainless steel cylinder. Wooden flanges enclose the cylinder and a wooden handle is attached to the bottom. This instrument is designed to create rhythmic scraping sounds and patterns. The beads can be rotated around the textured steel or the instrument can be spun or shaken for varying sounds. | | | | | |

"Just Right" Oct 24, 2008
By New England Yankee I think this is the best cabasa available. Having looked at several brands, LP's quality is the best. The wood is cut and finished just so, the chain is exactly the right tension, and the metal surface has just the right texture. The result is a responsive tool that will last and gives a good sound reliably. I like the standard size the best for balance and both weight and sound.
If you've looked at some of the plastic versions on the market, stay away! They just don't have the right sound. That's not an aversion to plastic generally, either, as I have a plastic guiro that I like a lot.
Very pleasant and playable.

The "original," but not necessarily the best... May 11, 2010

I bought it based on the brand recognition, then tried out the Rhythm Tech version - with the rubber-covered handle; I found the workmanship on the RT to equal or surpass the LP, liked the darker wood of the RT, and loved the covered handle...better grip, better feel, more comfortable. I returned the LP and ordered the Rhythm Tech for even less money.

This product is sturdy and loud. I learned certain "beats" from youtube.com when I typed in Cabasa. I have prefected my salsa hip moves and this instrument just makes my routine perfect.

Latin Percussion LP234A Afuche/Cabasa Standard Jan 06, 2012
By R. H. Lewis This was a great surprise for me as expected it to be bigger. But as it worked out it was for my wife to use while performing and it was the perfect size for her needs.
