It has since become the most popular hand percussion instrument ever created! Constructed using endless loops of steel bead chain wrapped around a specially textured, stainless steel cylinder. Wooden flanges enclose the cylinder and a wooden handle is attached to the bottom. This instrument is designed to create rhythmic scraping sounds and patterns. The beads can be rotated around the textured steel or the instrument can be spun or shaken for varying sounds. | | | |

"Just Right" Oct 24, 2008
By New England Yankee I think this is the best cabasa available. Having looked at several brands, LP's quality is the best. The wood is cut and finished just so, the chain is exactly the right tension, and the metal surface has just the right texture. The result is a responsive tool that will last and gives a good sound reliably. I like the standard size the best for balance and both weight and sound.
If you've looked at some of the plastic versions on the market, stay away! They just don't have the right sound. That's not an aversion to plastic generally, either, as I have a plastic guiro that I like a lot.
Very pleasant and playable.

This product is sturdy and loud. I learned certain "beats" from youtube.com when I typed in Cabasa. I have prefected my salsa hip moves and this instrument just makes my routine perfect.

cabasa Jan 28, 2013
By Henz If you are "only" a singer in a band, like me, but you feel a need to make more of a contribution, this little item is a must. I used this last night on my gig and I felt like my added rhythems were a plus to the songs. I use it sparingly but when the time comes for that extra punch, it was perfect. It's the right size and doesn't take up much room in my mic bag. I highly recommend the Cabasa.
