The LP Vibra-Slap was the first of numerous patents granted to Latin Percussion. It has appeared in more recordings, soundtracks, and advertisements than any sound effect ever made. As with many other LP products, the Vibra-Slap was conceived as a dependable replacement for the original delicate rattling horse jawbone.

5The One and Only  Oct 24, 2008 By New England Yankee
If you already know what the Vibra-Slap is, you also know it is THE ONLY modern replacement for the jawbone worth having. As LP puts it on their website, it is probably the most recorded sound effect in history. In the case of standard effects like this, it actually makes the most sense to buy the standard sound. You want the effect of the effect, so to speak, not for people to focus on the effect because it sounds different.

If you don't know what the Vibra-Slap is, it's kind of hard to describe. The best I can do is that it produces a really hard, fast rattle sound with a fast attack and fast decay. It's done by holding it as illustrated in the product picture and striking the ball down into your hand. That makes the upper part vibrate rapidly. The wooden bell-shaped upper contains a clapper that produces the rattle. Once you hear it, you'll realize that you've heard it in countless recordings, movies, and TV shows. Believe it or not, this was designed to replace the use of a donkey jawbone with loose teeth to produce the same effect!

The Vibra-Slap comes in 3 slightly differing versions, two wood and one metal. This is the most common one.

5Great Vibra Slap  Jun 16, 2010 By J. Weden
This is an extremely well made and enjoyable latin sound. I bought it to for a specific need in a musical I am performing in but will use it's sound in other music. I love the power it provides when mounted to a stand - I was worried that the audience wouldn't be able to hear it without miking but that hasn't been an issue.

5Latin Percussion LP209 Vibra Slap Ii Deluxe  Jan 28, 2012 By Chaz
Nice tone with long sustain. Adds a nice effect to many types of music. I used it on a acoustic version of Ozzy Osbornes Crazy train. The crowd love it. I recomend mounting it to a cymbal stand or wherever meets your needs so you can hit it and continue your playing. I love this piece of gear!

4great sound  Nov 21, 2011 By Seabass
just what I wanted. Good sound, easy to use. It's a shame it was left on stage when we opened up for Toad the Wet Sprocket. Guess I'll need another

5Authentic fun  Nov 30, 2010 By Sonoma's Davey
I'm an amateur musician, and I like to collect interesting instruments. The Vibra-Slap is heard in many popular recordings, and it's fun to use. This model is very well made, and has that authentic sound. It's fun to use, and children can easily use it as well. It looks well made, and it should stand up to some serious slapping.
