5Quality Stand  Jan 04, 2012 By Siddigger
This is a great heavy duty stand at a great price for what you get. This is the only stand I have never had trouble with. Stable even on carpet with the heavy base. Nothing is worse than a stand tipping at the wrong time. I know you can pay less but it will not compare or last as long. This is a bargin. As a plus they have great add ons. Get the add on metal extention that attaches to the page holder and the little plastic shaft lock for sure. You will be glad you did. The non slide and scratch foot addition makes it more stable yet. Have the add on bottom tray but not really needed and gets in the way of knee or when moving. If you need a place for water or pop it's good to have.

3Shaft Lock allows heavy music book loading  Dec 16, 2011 By Tim Laud
It definitely does allow you to load up the music stand with lots of books. I'm glad I got it. The down side is that even with the lock "off" it adds considerable drag to the movement. Also, it was not obvious how to operate it without a little experimentation.

4Works fine, needs a little bit of a strong hand though  Aug 31, 2011 By rdrr
Works great. Use a screw driver to attach it to the top of the black metal pole and a hand grip grabs the shiny part of the pole to keep it from sliding down. Simple. Works. Cheap. Happy.
Wife is the musician and has a little trouble twisting it, but it's fine.

5Manhasset Shaft lock  Feb 28, 2011 By BetteMarieArt
Must be pretty good, it was only two weeks before someone took off with it, I haven't seen it since...

Worked as advertised while I was using it (I have an extra heavy notebook of music, like a oversize fake book, weighs about 10 pounds).

The music platform must be removed from the shaft to install the lock, so you need a couple of adjustable wrenches to avoid damaging the bolt heads with pliers.

5stand lock  Aug 10, 2010 By Richard Lask
A GREAT idea for a common problem. I have the stand locks on three of my stands and have given several out to fellow musicians. So far they are working well!
