In all fairness ... Aug 26, 2008
By CM0730 Neither of the negative comments posted about this adapter are exactly fair.
The first, which mentions they received the incorrect model number, is a vendor issue (as opposed to a problem with the product itself) so should have been posted in the vendor ratings section.
The second review stating that the product is useless because it doesn't charge batteries is perhaps a bit "misguided." Although many common devices now a days use the type of AC adapters that charge batteries, by no means should one assume that ALL AC adapters charge batteries. A bit more research prior to purchase could have prevented this situation. Obviously this reviewer believed they were getting something different than what they actually purchased and ended up being disappointed.
I've owned this adapter for probably about a year now, and think it's great. I went through three other brands of book lights and their AC adapters and was always having to send them back under warranty, paying shipping ever time. (Doesn't make much sense to pay for all those shipping costs since the book lights themselves are only $20 - $30 items.) My Might Bright book light and adapter are going strong and I use them for hours everyday. I'm so happy to have found a reliable book light and adapter!
It is true however that the instructions state to take the batteries out when using AC power, so if doing that isn't going to work out with how you'll be using the book light, you might want to look into another alternative. Personally, considering everything I went through with the other brands' mechanical failures, I'd rather buy two of these ... one to leave plugged in on the nightstand, and one to use with batteries for mobility. I don't find the battery door hard to remove, but if I had to swap between battery and AC on a daily basis, I'd probably just get two for the convenience.
Anyway ... in my opinion this adapter is a well-made, reliable product.

Fantastic product. Very reliable and useful and reasonably priced Mar 03, 2009

I have two of these adapters and I love them. In fact, I bought the Might Bright XtraFlex2 booklight specifically because it is the only light I could find that gives you the choice of using this adapter instead of batteries. I keep one on my nightstand with my Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 light because I read in bed at night and don't want to be replacing batteries all time. The other is next to my favorite reading chair. I also have another Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 light with batteries in it for travel.
You should know that the cord is plenty long enough so that you don't feel restricted by it while reading.
I've owned both of the adapters for nearly a year now and they are very reliable and useful.
Like others, I feel that misunderstanding the description of the product and expecting something other than described or having an order fulfillment mistake happen should have nothing to do with reviewing the quality of a product. One is customer error and the other is a shipping error. Neither is a fault in the product itself.
You can't go wrong with this product if you want to use it as I've described.

Exactly as promised, an adapter for my Mighty Bright. Dec 27, 2009

I ordered my mighty bright book light first and then only later realized how nice it would have been to also have an adapter. This adapter came quickly and it does the job; now I don't have to rely on batteries and waste money replacing them every few months or so. When you read as much as I do, that does become a consideration.
One other thing-- the cord on this is about 10 feet long, whereas the cord on the adapters that come in the booklight kits are only 6 feet long. An extra four feet may be important, depending on how far away your outlet is. Just a thought :).
I recommend buying this adapter, especially if you may have more than one model of the mighty bright book light--it apparently fits them all.

Fairness indeed Jan 17, 2009
By J. Darby I agree with CM07030 completely. Nowhere does this product claim to be a charging device and removing the batteries is a trivial matter. If you are going to add in trickle charging and a bypass circuit to bypass the batteries when on AC power, you are going to be paying much more than $13.
Nothing beats the Mighty Bright for value and performance. I love it!

No more batteries Jul 24, 2010
By Irish I have a Kindle and I have a couple different Mighty Bright lights I use when I read. This adapter works well with both.
