 BASIC BUT WELL DESIGNED LEATHER MANDOLIN STRAP Dec 14, 2006

This is a nice basic, functional leather mandolin strap of tan leather coloration that should last for years. It is well designed for its purpose with black "shoe string" tie straps for the neck and adequate length and multiple end pin cut outs to allow for adjustment of the strap to suit differing physiques/preferences. I had some difficulty in attaching the strap to the end pin on my mandolin and was tempted to take a razor knife and lengthen the slit just a bit but decided against it and finally managed to get it attached to the end pin. There is no fancy embossing on the leather and no wild colors on it or the tie strings. However, to me that unobtrusiveness is a plus.

Perfect basic strap for my husbands mandolin! Exactly as described and seems durable enough to last for an infinite amount of time. Goes great with the sunburst color of the one he has!

This mandolin strap is adequate for its purpose. The chord to attach it to the headstock tried to unravel, so I had to take it a lighter to it. I may replace that part with something else, that stays tied better. It is sorta hard to attach to the tail pin, but that means it's secure and won't be falling off. Multiple choice of holes for that which means an adjustable length. A no-frills functional product that could have been a trifle less expensive for what you get. But I'm not unhappy.

If you are looking for a 100% leather mandolin strap, consider another strap. The outside surface of the Planet Waves strap is leather but the inside surface is some kind of man-made material glued to the thin leather part. I will be ordering the Levys "Leather Mandolin Strap (Walnut)".
