I've taught public school music for 30 years (general and choral)at all grade levels (K-12) and finally switched from Finale's Print Music (most recent version was 2004)to this Student version of Sibelius and am VERY glad I did. Sibelius is far more intuitive and user friendly and can be used by students of all ages. I find it especially handy for part/score transposition and keyboard note input. While I was at first apprehensive that the student version would not be complex enough, I've found it to be more than adequate for my needs (basic song arranging, transcribing parts, etc.).

For an up-and-coming composer and music student, this software is outstanding. The notation is easy to understand and read. There are some issues with irregular note input such as triplet and quintuplets. As its description says, it is great for music theory and composition homework. It is a great tool for many, but not professionals. It is a fun tool for developing skills in phrasing, voicing, and more. I would recommend this product for students and leisure composers.

If you are a poor college student that is a music major but not composition, this is a great starting program! It's quick and simple to get into and use.

I was excited to get this product today but my excitement soured when, after installation, the serial number to activate the product didn't work! Could it get worse....yes. When I went to the company website to contact customer service I was asked to enter my serial number, which, of course came up invalid. After an hour of searching for an answer I contacted Amazon for a return of a defective product. I'm going to accept a replacement, but if the next one has the same problem...send it back and forget Sibelius.
