You can even turn the volume off and just follow the flashing red indicator light. The QT metronomes feature a compact design with quartz accuracy.

5If I had to own only one metronome . . .  Jul 12, 2008 By classicalgeek "raising geekiness to an art form!"
I bought this metronome after I'd been playing a number of years, and quickly this became my personal favourite for a number of reasons. First, the colour makes it really easy to find when you're packing up your things, so you're less likely to lose it. Second, the adjustable volume control means that you can gradually fade out the metronome sound. Third, the flashing light I found particularly useful when practicing in the choir loft with the organ and organist at the other end of a church. The light enabled both of us to keep time without being confused by the heavy reverberation and the length of time it took the sound to travel. Fourth, the adjustable sound, volume and flashing light means that for an ensemble with some timing difficulties, it can be used extremely discreetly in a performance, with no-one in the audience the wiser. Fifth, the 9-volt battery it runs on lasts for ages, and is easily replaceable even at the most inconvenient place and hour. All in all, if you don't need the bells and whistles of different tunings, or something to tell you what beat in the measure you're on, or you're just looking for standard metronome, it would be hard to beat this one for the features.

I did find one of the two settings for the click to be not as useful as the other, but this may be a function of the partial hearing loss that is a common occupational hazard among musicians. Still, it's nice to have the choice! This has lasted me for more than ten years and I have to say that it's a first-rate product. I'm pleased to see that it's still available.

5Portable and useful, fair price  Jul 15, 2010 By R. Gregory Capaldini
For most of us not concerned with getting a hardwood-covered metronome to top a 9' concert grand for a photo shoot, this metronome is more than adequate. I like the choice of beats (one is a bit more strident), the volume control and built-in A440 tuner. Needless to say, it's a LOT more portable than the traditional type, and for those of us with a history of klutziness, the lack of moving parts is smart.

5Yamaha "UFO" metronome  May 24, 2011 By muziker
I love it:
1) It has a pleasant woody tone: "thunk" (not an irritating metallic "clink")
2) It has a volume control from zero up to 11 - this one goes to ELEVEN!

5Perfect little metronome  Jun 08, 2010 By Theresa
My parents had bought this metronome for me almost 12 years ago. I'm only repurchasing this item as the one I originally had was lost while in transition. But it is a very compact metronome, perhaps 3-4 inches in diameter. On the bottom of the metronome there is a smart clicky wheel where you can modify the tempo without worrying about accidentally altering it, and also there is another button where you can slide side to side to change between the two different sounds. If I can recall correctly one is a wood clapping sound while the other is a higher pitched clicking. Over all a very good metronome, definitely a nice one to have if you don't mind its innocent child-like design.

5Metronome  May 08, 2011 By Ann
I received the Yamaha QT1 Quartz Metronome and was very pleased with the way it works. It is very easy to operate and adjust for both sound and timing.
I am a beginning piano student and this is helping very much with my being able to keep proper time.
